Nick Parker, headteacher at Handsworth Grange Community Sports College, said school staff were informed of an incident at the Ballifield Shops area after school on Thursday, 24 September.

Two staff members broke up the fight, believed to be between pupils at the school. One person who witnessed the event said they saw people gathered to ‘film a kid being beaten up’ with no one stepping in to help.
