Sheffield primary school sends entire year group home after positive Covid-19 case

Meersbrook Bank primary school in Sheffield has sent year six pupils home after one class member tested positive for coronavirus, adding to the long list of Sheffield schools which have had to do so.

The positive result was confirmed on Monday (September 8) and pupils were sent home to self isolate straight away.

They will now need to isolate for 14 days.

The school confirmed: “We had one pupil who tested positive. We shut down that bubble for the year six group.

"We got confirmation of the positive test on Monday. Pupils in year six were in school on Monday but have not been in since.”

No other year groups at the school have been affected and pupils in those age groups can still attend.

Since schools reopened last week after almost six months off during the pandemic, a large number of pupils have been impacted by positive tests across Sheffield.
