Oasis Academy Don Valley announced today that a small number of pupils and staff had been asked to isolate for a period of 14 days following the positive test.

All those required to isolate had direct prolonged contact with the individual, the school’s headteacher Mr Pape said, adding that all other pupils should attend as normal.

Since schools reopened in early September, a number in South Yorkshire have had confirmed cases and sent pupils home to isolate.

When a case of Covid-19 is confirmed at a school, the person with the virus must be immediately sent home to self-isolate.

The school then must contact the government’s coronavirus advice unit for guidance on whether to send anybody else home.
