“Every school and case is different and so advice and guidance to schools is provided on an individual basis. This depends on how many contacts that a person with Covid-19 has as well as the duration of contact.

“Schools are experiencing issues with the current shortage of testing appointments available but we are working with them closely to help children and staff access these.

"Throughout we have been taking advice from Public Health England on how we can best support the school and staff to allow children to continue to attend safely."

“As a reminder, we urge people to book a test if they have symptoms of Covid-19 which are; a high temperature, a new, continuous cough or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste.

“If you have symptoms you must self-isolate at home and only leave your home to get a test.
