Scott Vikings, whose five children attend Anston Brook primary school in Sheffield, said parents were told of the “ridiculous” new rule on Monday (February 3).

They now have to park on a busy main road outside the school or at a cricket club down the road, the stay-at-home dad told The Star.

“I’m a disabled parent myself but I can move about. But there are a couple of parents that are really struggling,” he said.

“It’s bang out of order for the elderly parents. A lot of kids have grandparents that are 70 or 80 years old picking them up. There’s one guy and I can hear him huffing and puffing and really struggling because he has to walk a long way.”

A spokesperson from Anston Brook said the decision had been made by The White Woods Primary Academy Trust, who run the school.

“Over the years the two bays have been abused by parents dropping kids off,” they said.

“We have tried to call police it but it’s still being abused.”

But Scott claimed the school had “taken the easy way out” with the new parking measures.

He said: “Instead of contacting who was parking there, they [the school] have just closed the gates.

“It’s just ridiculous. They have just taken the easy way out.”

The Star has contacted The White Woods Primary Academy Trust for comment.
