Coronavirus: Confirmed case at another Sheffield school – but it’s staying open

Another Sheffield school has confirmed a positive case of coronavirus.

Handsworth Grange Community Sports College said it was notified of the news by Public Health England on Thursday.

In a letter to parents, headteacher Nick Parker said: “The small number of children who have been in direct prolonged contact with the confirmed case will have received an individual letter and will be staying at home for 14 days.

“The school remains open and your child should continue to attend if they remain well.

“We know that you may find this concerning but are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England.”

The school’s website states: “Under no circumstances send your child to school if they are unwell and are showing symptoms of Covid-19 which are a high temperature, a new or continuous cough, and a loss of taste and smell."
