Another Sheffield secondary school confirms positive Covid-19 case

Another Sheffield secondary school has confirmed a positive case of coronavirus.

A Year 11 pupil student tested positive for the virus this week, Outwood Academy City confirmed in a letter to parents sent out today (Sunday, September 13).

The student along with a ‘small number’ of fellow pupils and staff who came into contact them have been asked to isolate for 14 days.

According to the letter, from principal Andrew Downing, the Stradbroke Road school will otherwise remain open.

"I would like to reassure you we have worked closely with the Local Authority Public Health Team and Public Health England and the Local Authority, who are happy we have taken all reasonable infection prevention and control measures in school.”

It comes after Sheffield was placed on the Government’s coronavirus watchlist as an ‘area of concern’ as cases continue to rise across the city.
