Doncaster roads left underwater set to re-open as flood warnings are lifted

Roads left under water by recent flooding are on the verge of being re-opened as flood fears subside across Doncaster.

Doncaster Council has said that Environment Agency flood warnings for the River Don have now been lifted and that routes left submerged by recent rain and snowfall could re-open in the next day.

A spokesman said: “We’re pleased to report that all flood alerts have now been removed by the Environment Agency, as river levels have reduced enough that there is no immediate concern.

“We will still be monitoring the levels closely, though, and will update you if anything changes.

“Topham Ferry Lane in Sykehouse and Fordstead Lane in Barnby Dun are both still closed due to flooding, but we are hoping to be able to re-open them within the next 24 hours.

“There are more wintry showers forecast over the coming days, but it is not thought that these will lead to more flooding issues.”
