Cash grants available for schools in Yorkshire and Humberside to support their breakfast club

From today, Thursday March 19, schools across Yorkshire and Humberside can apply for a £1000 grant to help support the running of their breakfast club. The grants, provided by Kellogg’s, are available to primary and secondary schools across the UK, as well as school-based nurseries for the first time.
Kellogg’s has been supporting school breakfast clubs in the most deprived areas of the UK for the last 28 years. The cash grants can be used to supercharge a school’s breakfast club offering, funding anything from equipment and staff to creative resources.
A third of teachers (36%) say they see hungry children arriving at school every day. Furthermore, 97% of teachers believe that arriving at school hungry affects educational progress2. The research from Kellogg’s, highlights that breakfast clubs are an essential provision to help tackle child hunger and improve the quality of learning.
In the last academic year, 84 schools across Yorkshire and Humberside received a Kellogg’s Breakfast Club Grant to further the important impact of their breakfast clubs.
Andrew Ridge, Social Impact Manager at Kellogg’s, said: “School breakfast clubs are a lifeline for many families across the UK — offering childcare, a morning meal, and a welcoming start to the day. We’re delighted to announce that our grants programme is open and continues supporting the incredible work of breakfast clubs nationwide.
“This year, we are expanding our breakfast club grants programme to include school-based and school-run nurseries in England and Wales. Extending our programme will help us make an impact through earlier intervention—because we know just how important a good breakfast is for all ages.”
Since 1998, Kellogg’s has invested over £6 million providing grants to over 3,000 school breakfast clubs, focusing on communities with high rates of poverty.
