Moyes, the former Everton and Manchester United manager, has masterminded a turnaround in the Hammers' fortunes. After fighting relegation last season, they go into Monday's clash with the Blades in touching distance of the top four.

United, meanwhile, have experienced the reverse and travel to the London Stadium bottom of the table.

Moyes said in his own pre-match press conference that he would not underestimate United, calling on his players to be "professional" on Monday evening.

And Wilder said: "I did a press conference recently regarding the players who do it at this level week in, week out and it's the same with managers.

"For David to have the career he's had, I've nothing but admiration for him.

"A serial winner of the LMA award, voted for managers, and then having the opportunity of managing one of the biggest clubs in the world, going abroad and coming back and still doing it now.

"A fabulous career that I'm very envious of. They do it season in, season out and I'm trying to do that. Those guys have a great amount of respect from me."

Moyes said of United: "They have got a run in the FA Cup going as well so they were always a difficult challenge, but at this point in time they’re an even more difficult challenge because they know every game they lose now will make it incredibly difficult for them, but every game they pick up will give them more hope."
