A woman from Sheffield whose new car was ‘petrol-bombed’ outside her home in the early hours of Saturday morning in the Richmond area of the city says she no longer feels safe living in the area.

Sarah May Bekhouche, 26, who lives on Richmond Hall Road, was woken up at 5.15 am by a loud bang and ran outside to see her Seat Ibiza in a ball of flames.

“It was a massive shock to hear what sounded like a gunshot and then to see my car which I only bought two-weeks ago, go up in flames. It was ‘shocking and disheartening’, says Sarah.

“I no longer feel safe living in this area,” she adds.

“I hope that the people who did this feel some shame after seeing this. God forbid it happens to anyone else.”

Sarah and her friend were at home at the time and she says: “I don’t have any quarrels with my neighbours or anyone else, everyone is really friendly, so I’m sure it’s a random attack. There’s no reason for it at all that I can think of.”

She adds: “I am absolutely heartbroken, I had been saving for that particular car for two years so that was really sad.”
