Young entrepreneur’s new award

Inventor Ruth Amos of Sheffield-based StairSteady has been named one of the Future 100 Young Social Entrepreneurs.

Ruth created the StairSteady while she was at Eckington School, in response to a teacher’s challenge to design something to help his father, who had recently had a stroke, to get up and down the stairs without a stairlift.

StairSteady is made in the UK from recycled steel and needs no batteries or power.

The Future 100 Awards acknowledge the efforts of businesses that have a strong commercial foundation and a significant social and environmental impact.
