PASSENGERS due to fly back to Doncaster’s Robin Hood Airport could be among those stranded abroad after a tour operator went into administration.

The site is among the terminals served by Holidays UK Ltd, bosses have confirmed, and urged passengers who had bookings from Doncaster to contact the Civil Aviation Authority.

An airport spokesman said: “We can confirm that Holidays 4 UK Limited trading as Holidays 4 U and Aegean Flights has gone into administration and has ceased trading with immediate effect. Holidays 4 U provided a twice weekly service to Turkey from Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield. Because of the abrupt ending of the airline we expect that some passengers due back to Robin Hood Airport could be affected.

“This will be a frustrating and worrying time for those concerned and we would advise passengers who have flown or are due to fly that they are ATOL protected and should contact the Civil Aviation Authority who have stepped in to protect holidaymakers currently abroad and those with forward bookings. Visit www.caa.co.uk for more details.”
