Winners boost city growth prospects

It was about taking part, winning – and raising the profile of Sheffield to stimulate growth in 2014.

That was the message from John Bills, managing director of Sheffield Newspapers, to the city’s top companies at the Sheffield Business Awards, last night.

Winners in 15 categories were revealed in a glittering black tie ceremony attended by hundreds of people at Ponds Forge International Sports centre.

Mr Bills told guests: “It gives me enormous pleasure to help stage such a prestigious event, in partnership with Sheffield Chamber of Commerce.”

E.On Environmental Award - Anchor Magnets. Wake Smith Excellence in Manufacturing Award - Fletchers. Sheffield Enterprise Agency Excellence in Professional Services Award - Rare Creative Group. Lupton Fawcett Lee & Priestley Next Big Thing Award - Swellaway medical device technology.

Sheffield International Venues Outstanding Achievements in Sports, Hospitality & Tourism Award - 2013 Westfield Health British Transplant Games. Source Skills & Development Award & Apprenticeship Award - Sheffield College. Sheffield College Young Business Person of the Year Award - Oliver Bryssau of Origin Broadband.
