Gala Tent saved the day for organisers of a fund-raising bike ride at Rother Valley Country Park, when a freak gust of wind reduced three gazebos to scrap metal.
Rotherham-based Gala hadn’t supplied the gazebos, but it had supplied a marquee for the 35km Park 2 Park Bike Ride, which attracted around 200 cyclists and raised more than £15,000 for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.
Organiser Aubrey Hillsaid: “As cyclists were returning back to base, a freak gust of wind lasting around 30 seconds totally wrecked the three gazebos.
“The three gazebos were reduced to scrap steel and canvas. However, the Gala Tent marquee stood firm, with its tie-downs in place and never flinched - we were amazed.”
“With around 200 cyclists to sign in and register from the marquee and certificates and medals to present at the finish, it was vital that we had a tent that was able to stand up to the elements and the Gala Tent did just that.”
Gala Tent founder Jason Mace said he was delighted that his firm’s marquee saved the day.
