Some of Sheffield’s top business brains are aiming to make a splash for St Luke’s - and hoping their efforts don’t bellyflop.

On September 19 they will be taking the plunge from the top diving board at Ponds Forge - and raising money for the St Luke’s £5 million Room To Care appeal to create a new In Patient Unit for the hospice.

The Big Splash is being organised by Sheffield International Venues and the City of Sheffield Dive Club.

Already well into a rigorous training schedule, and swapping suits for Speedos, are Geoff Halliwell, director at architects Bond Bryan, magician and entertainer Steve Faulkner, Siobhan Newton from Hallam University, Caroline Moore, a director of Medical Solicitors, Karen Sherwood and Graham Shapley of the Cupola Gallery in Hillsborough, and Joe Heller from recruitment company Consult Search.

“It’s fantastic all these people have found time to train and commit themselves to this event,” said Ceri James from St Luke’s.

“We still have more than £1 million to raise before we hit the £5 million target for our Room to Care appeal, so every penny counts.”

Tickets for the 7pm event are available online at www.stlukeshospice.org.uk
