Warning over ‘parasite’ sales

FANS of Chesterfield FC are being urged to watch out for ‘parasites’ bidding to get a slice of the Wembley merchandise market.

The club has produced its own range of merchandise ahead of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy against Swindon on Sunday - and wants fans to buy these items and support the team, rather than purchasing unofficial items from which the club will not see any cash.

Alan Stevenson, Spireites director of marketing, said: “We cannot stop these traders from setting up.

“However, we want fans to know they do not make any financial contribution to the football club and are acting like parasites by taking hard-earned money out of the pockets of our supporters for their own financial gain.”
