We’re talking about the ice and snow that hit Sheffield yesterday morning. There were crashes and long tailbacks in Crosspool, Crookes, Ecclesall Road and elsewhere. Will we ever learn? Or is it the council’s fault for not gritting enough?

On the front of the Sheffield Telegraph today we report that listed Victorian town houses on Glossop Road could become flats. The building was the Loch Fyne restaurant and before that it was Hanrahans bar for many years. But the plans, which include a three-storey rear extension, have been called a ‘hideous disfigurement’ by Hallamshire Historic Buildings. They are recommended for approval on Tuesday - is that right?
