Utility bills top consumer cares

Have your say

Consumers are 10 times more concerned about the rising cost of utility bills than they are about meeting their monthly mortgage or rent payments.

According to a survey by comparison site MoneySupermarket, a quarter of UK households would be unable to survive for more than a week if their income dried up suddenly.

Three out of five households could relieve their financial worries with an extra £1,000.

MoneySupermarket says the worry over the impact everyday bills have on consumers is more than double that of other concerns such as unemployment, paying a mortgage or not having enough money to save.
