Student accommodation in Sheffield has been crowned the best in the UK.

Sheffield University has won the award for best student housing at the College and University Business Officers awards in Edinburgh.

It comes after the university’s £160 million student residences strategy to create more than 4,000 new bedrooms and a new social and event space and transforming its Endcliffe site.

Pat McGrath, the university’s director of accommodation and commercial services, said: “Sheffield is renowned for retaining the highest number of students when they finish their studies and I’d like to think the student experience they get from us goes some way towards them falling in love with the city.”
