At 2nd Girlfriend Bar and Restaurant, you can expect fresh ingredients prepared to order

At this ideally situated venue at Langsett Road, Hillsborough, you can expect fresh ingredients prepared to order and alongside an impressive array of pizzas and pasta and risotto dishes are a few surprises.

Owner Chris Chris Kamolli, says: “We do some really nice dishes people might not expect – especially our fish and lamb dishes.”

“Everything is fresh and our food is full of colour. We buy from the local markets and get fresh ingredients on a daily basis.”

“Everything is fresh and our food is full of colour. We buy from the local markets and get fresh ingredients on a daily basis.”

Fish, like the monkfish and scallops which are a popular choice in their main courses, is selected from the market and meat, like the lamb chops in another popular main course rice and lamb dish, comes from local butchers.

Lots of choice on the menu

For starters expect staples like garlic bread and olives, but also arancini – Italian rice balls filled with smoked ham, mozzarella, cheese and parmesan - or mushrooms baked in the oven with prawns or how about deep fried squid or a selection of anti-pasta or delicious fresh Scottish mussels.

For mains there are pizzas, pasta dishes, steaks, fish, risotto dishes and chicken – as well as lamb chops and succulent fresh Monkfish - with lots of choice to suit every taste and plenty for vegetarians.

"Everybody asks about the name. Some say it’s weird, some says it’s a good name, and others say it is different..."

And you have to leave room for dessert with irresistible delights such as Crème Brulee, Ice Cream Sundae, Chocolate Fudge Cake, Chocolate soufflé, Tiramisu, Lemon Posset and Panna Cotta on the menu.

Easy access

The restaurant can seat about 40 to 45 people and is ideal for family meals out, romantic dinners for two or for works outings, get-togethers with friends or special occasions.

With parking behind the restaurant or across the road getting here is easy, and this ground floor restaurant is fully accessible and has disabled toilet facilities making it easy for anyone with mobility issues, or getting in with prams and pushchairs.

Chris, who is from Albania, set has run the family concern for about six month and explains the unusual name, which has certainly caught people’s attention.

Chris said: “My girlfriend wanted this name because she’s my second girlfriend.

“Everybody asks about the name. Some say it’s weird, some says it’s a good name, and others say it is different. It is hard to forget and easy to remember. In a way, it’s a bit of advertisement in itself because people talk about it.”

And the welcome you’ll get promises to be as warm as the Med too at this family-run venture.

Open throughout December

The restaurant will remain open throughout the whole of December – including Christmas Day and Boxing Day – and its opening hours from 5pm to 11pm.
