TRAVELLERS living illegally on a Fylde field will make a final bid to make it their permanent home – almost three years after they arrived.

The travellers, who have set up home off Fairfield Road, in Staining, had planning permission refused by Fylde Council and the Secretary of State and have had an enforcement notice to leave the site served on them.

But on Monday they will take their case to stay to Manchester’s Civil Justice Centre after claiming their case was not handled properly, and the final decision was not made on the evidence heard at the appeal.

Allan Oldfield, Fylde Council’s chief executive, said: “If the case is found in their favour the planning appeal would have to be reheard and the enforcement notice we currently have in place would be ineffective.

“If it’s found against them the enforcement notice to be off site by July 2013 will continue.”
