Train operator East Coast, which runs services through South Yorkshire, has won a prestigious national award for the way it manages disruption.
The company was presented with the Silver Whistle prize for ‘the most improved rail operator in managing disruption’, at a rail industry event in London.
The awards are organised by the Institution of Railway Operators and the trade journal Modern Railways, to publicly acknowledge best practice in the rail industry.
East Coast’s award recognises improvements made in the provision of customer information at times of disruption.
Customer Information manager Jon Harris said: “The award was based on customer ratings, and judges noted a 12 per cent improvement in East Coast’s rating.”
He added: “We have also set up a task force to drive improvements forward, with electronic customer information screens on platforms and in real-time via our website and Twitter feed.
East Coast operates trains linking London King’s Cross with South Yorkshire via Doncaster station.
