Doncaster Central MP Rosie Winterton has called on the town to ensure it remains a good place to do business, despite the tough economic times.

Speaking during a visit to automotive heating and air conditioning specialist Webasto, she pledged to do what she could to support local business.

She said: “It’s important that Doncaster remains a good place to do business in these difficult economic times.

“I’m eager to do all that I can to support businesses in the borough.”

Webasto’s sales and marketing director Steve Powell praised the MP.

Mr Powell said: “It’s good to know that our local MP takes a real interest in the health of the manufacturing concerns in the area, especially in these challenging times. I’m confident that the views of the people she has met and the advanced technology behind the products she has seen will have broadened her appreciation of our commitment to top quality manufacturing standards, which are so vital to maintain business success in world markets.”

Rosie Winterton was invited by ADS Group, the trade association for the UK’s civil aviation, defence, security and space industries, to find out more about association member companies in her constituency.

It highlighted the importance of these companies in terms of local jobs and a skilled workforce.

Webasto makes interior heating and cooling systems for trucks, buses, earth-moving plant, cars, boats and trains.

The company also supples climate control systems for vehicles used by Britain’s armed forces, operating in parts of the world ranging from the tropics to the polar regions, as well as the less extreme requirements of the UK Border Force Agency and emergency services personnel.
