Three firms including a restaurant and cocktail bar take space in Sheffield city centre development

Restaurant and cocktail bar Isabellas, IT firm Simoda and The Floristry School are moving into Little Kelham, a district-within-a-district, sandwiched between Green Lane and a mill race off the River Don, featuring 232 new homes and several 19th century metalworks buildings, including listed five-storey mill Eagle Works.

Simoda has taken a five-year lease on the first floor.

Managing director Daniel Bumby said: “The location was key as we want to be able to attract people to come and work here as we expand.

“We also loved the building’s heritage and the industrial features of the offices that have been retained.”

New neighbour Steve Miccoli is putting the finishing touches to a 70-cover restaurant and cocktail bar in the adjacent Gatehouse building that originally formed the entrance to the steelworks.

He said: “This is such a buzzing, up and coming part of Sheffield and we wanted to be part of it. It has a great vibe and there’s a real mix of people, from young professionals and students to families with young children moving into the area. It’s a very exciting time for us.”

The third new tenant is The Floristry School, which has taken space on the ground floor of Eagle Works. It runs courses accredited by The Sheffield College.

They join tenants Uber Agency, Pendo and Stew and Oyster.

Leeds developer Citu has been working on Little Kelham for the last seven years.

Boss Chris Thompson said another three tenants would be announced soon. That would leave one unit remaining, The Engine Room, on the first floor of Eagle Works.

He said: “It’s a great honour to be able to bring these old buildings back into such vibrant use, but it’s the mix of occupiers that we have at Little Kelham that really makes this a great place.

“We work hard to carefully select the right occupiers who each provide something special to this charming part of Kelham Island. We are excited about the impact they will have on continuing to bring to life this place over the next few months.”

Citu is known for its sustainable philosophy. The Little Kelham scheme comes with solar panels and biomass heating.
