Howells Solicitors has won a £1m Government contract to create more jobs and set up a telephone service offering debt and welfare benefits advice.

The Sheffield-based firm says the nine-month contract with the Legal Services Commission will see it help more than 10,000 people.

Howells’ legal director, Pam Kenworthy said: “We are delighted to have been awarded these contracts, it is recognition of the high quality of the work done by our telephone teams.

“We are hopeful that this also places us in good stead for future contracts which will be awarded in April 2013.”
