Tax threat to small firms

Government plans to crack down on tax concessions for private equity firms could catch small businesses in the cross fire, says the Federation of Small Businesses.

The Government is believed to be considering changing regulations relating to taper relief on capital gains in a bid to reduce tax benefits enjoyed by high earning private equity firms. But the FSB says small firms and entrepreneurs benefit from taper relief, and generate 50 per cent of UK GDP.
