Tesco staff have said a big thank you to Chesterfield FC for helping to raise £8,000 to support Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work by hosting their black tie ball at the club.
The money raised by the ball on July 28, which was attended by 185 people, will contribute to the £10 million fundraising target Tesco staff across the country are aiming to hit for Cancer Research UK, Tesco’s Charity of the Year 2012.
Shift manager Carl Bevan, from the Tesco Distribution Centre in Chesterfield, said: “I was absolutely thrilled so many people came together to make the ball such a resounding success.
“Local businesses were very generous in donating raffle and auction prizes that boosted the total.
“Everyone was so motivated because it is such a great cause.”
