Speculation over plans for Sheffield law firm Irwin Mitchell to float on London stock market
It has been speculated that successful Sheffield law firm Irwin Mitchell is preparing to float on the London Stock Exchange.
Irwin Mitchell, which was founded in Sheffield in 1912 and still has offices on West Bar, is rumoured to be gearing up to float on the stock market in a move the firm hopes would value it at around £500m.
As yet, the prestigious law firm has said that the rumours are merely ‘market speculation’.
This morning (April 9) Sky News reported that Irwin Mitchell is working with investment bankers at Rothschild on plans for a potential IPO that could take place this year.
It would join just a small number of UK law firms that are currently listed.
An Irwin Mitchell spokesperson said: “We’ve taken no decision to introduce external investment. We remain in a strong position financially with our existing bank facilities offering us sufficient firepower to invest further in the growth and transformation of our business.”
