‘Smaller queues at Alton Towers’: Shopper shocked by huge Sheffield B&M queue

Twitter user @brown12008 posted a picture of the queue, which spanned down the length of the car park at Crystal Peak’s Drakehouse Retail Park, adding: “Been in smaller queues at Alton Towers.”
It seems some shoppers are shunning supermarkets in favour of budget retailers such as B&M, which has kept some of its stores open during lockdown.

Hide AdB&M outlined their safety procedures in a statement on their website: “Our stores have good availability across grocery essentials and your hardware needs.
“Our checkouts have protective screens and our store colleagues have sanitizer, face masks and gloves to allow us to serve you as safely as possible.”
Shoppers are also asked to observe social distancing at the store.
The National Police Chiefs' Council and the Council of Policing published a document in April, outlining what was appropriate when going out shopping.

Hide AdIt allowed shoppers to buy more than essential food, including alcohol and luxiuries, but not going out to buy non-essentials by themselves.
The document also says residents could go out to local corner shops to buy small amounts of 'staple' items such as milk, bread and newspapers.
