CRYSTAL Peaks shopping centre has made the first of its donations to the 25 organisations it will be supporting through its year-long Silver Jubilee celebrations.
Instead of choosing one charity for the year, the mall has selected 25 - one for each year of trading.
The first is the Crystal Peaks Runners, who have received grant aid totalling £1,118, while Points Learning Network receives £150 for its work with primary and secondary schools, community groups and agencies, to improve the quality of PE and sport provision in the neighbouring Westfield area.
Centre spokeswoman Laura Mathewson said: “The money to the Crystal Peaks Runners will give them a year’s sponsorship and pay for their part in the annual Moss Valley Madness race.
“Our funding for the Points Learning Network will pay for five activity coaching sessions in local schools.”
Other charities and community organisations to be supported over the coming months will include St Luke’s Hospice, Sheffield Children’s Hospital, Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, Cavendish Cancer Care, Helen’s Trust and the Meningitis Research Foundation, the Beighton Planters and South Yorkshire Badger Group, the Birley Spa School Nature Area, and the New Hope Food Bank.
