Now his son John Wheeldon-Wright, and daughter Rebecca Clough, and their staff of almost 50 people, are ready to welcome old and new customers, to help them mark the quarter century.

Being an independent company has meant they have been able to do things their way – and that means putting their customers first.

“We value repeat custom and want our clients to have the best service, before, during and after buying a car,” said John.

“We offer a genuine no hassle, no pressure and no gimmicks service.”

A car supermarket means greater choice for customers – whether you’re buying your first ever car, you’re not sure what car will suit you, or whether you have a specific make, model and price in mind.

Direct Cars was one of the first car supermarkets in the UK – the business has come a long way since the 1970s when founder Stuart set up his first car business, Eckington Motor Company in Derbyshire.

Over the last 25 years the way people want to buy cars has changed, and therefore the business has evolved to offer a range of options catering for the different ways people want to shop. It is now possible to buy a car completely online with click and collect or home delivery options, as well as still being able to buy in store.

These new purchase options are supplemented by experienced staff, available to speak to both in store and online via live chat, social media, and video calls.

Prize draw

Anyone who buys a car this month will be automatically entered into a draw, to be made on November 5, and the first 25 drawn will each scoop £250 cash.

And anyone who visits the car supermarket this month can simply scan a QR code in the showroom to be in with a chance of pocketing £250 cash in a draw which will be made on November 1 – you can even enter both!

Community spirited

Direct Cars has helped over 85,000 customers find their dream wheels and has built an enviable reputation for quality and service, but is also part of the local community.

Direct Cars sponsors two local football teams and a rugby team. This Christmas they will be participating in Cash for Kids Mission Christmas campaign for a second year, run by Hallam FM and Greatest Hits Radio, and will be a collection point for gifts for disadvantaged youngsters in Derbyshire and South Yorkshire.

This seven-acre site, on the edge of Sheffield near Crystal Peaks, is only five minutes from the M1 and stocks a huge range of quality nearly new cars as well as offering after-sales servicing and finance. But it’s the drive to put the customer first which sets it apart.

Rebecca explained: “Our customers are free to come and look, in their own time, without being hassled by commission-paid sales staff.”

Knowledgeable and confident staff also help, and a number of the team have been with the company for over 20 years, giving them the experience to help you find just what you’re looking for.

Customer benefits include a loyalty card and discounts on after sales, and with great reviews from thousands of clients you don’t just have to take their word for it.

From over 1,000 reviews on their site, over 96% said they would recommend Direct Cars. And now to celebrate that success and their 25 years in business they are offering all customers in October the chance to win cash in two prize draws.
