Sheffield weddings: Historic venue at Manor Lodge announces closure from January
A historic Sheffield wedding venue is closing due to a “steep decline” in bookings and cost increases.
Manor Lodge will no longer host weddings, parties or large-scale celebrations that require “significant staffing” or an alcohol licence, from January.
The announcement was made by the Green Estate CIC which blamed the ongoing rise in living costs.

It stated: “The team has worked incredibly hard trying to find an alternative solution, but it has proved impossible due to a steep decline in wedding bookings and significant increases in costs.”
All projections showed this part of the business would run at a “significant loss” next year, it added.
Green Estate, based at 389 Manor Lane, runs historic gem Manor Lodge, where Mary Queen of Scots was once imprisoned, landscaping company Pictorial Meadows, and hires out venues.
In a statement it said would continue to offer hospitality and visitor experiences, training, conferencing facilities and venue hire.
It added: “We will also be growing our programme of community, education and learning activities in our venues and green spaces, including educational sessions for schools and growing community volunteering opportunities.”
