Sheffield steel: Sheffield Forgemasters mentioned in Epstein files

Sheffield steel firm Forgemasters is mentioned in the Epstein files.

The company is mentioned in an email sent to paedophile American financier Jeffrey Epstein on July 1, 2010.

Written by David Stern, a US lawyer, it states: “Had meeting with PA - no action re Sheffield Forgemasters and Aston Martin without your go-ahead. He is waiting for further info from the companies which I will send you - will join him at dinner on Monday for China-Britain Business Council.”

There is no evidence of a reply.

There is no evidence PA refers to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor (formerly Prince Andrew), who had an involvement with the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC) during his time as the UK's Special Representative for International Trade and Investment, from 2001–2011.

Mr Mountbatten-Windsor visited Forgemasters more than a year before the email, in February 2009.

A spokesman for Forgemasters stated they had been made aware of a reference to the company in the files.

But added: “The company has no knowledge of, or involvement in the email correspondence.”

The US government has released millions of files from its investigation into Epstein.

He was convicted in Florida in 2008 of soliciting sex from a 14-year-old girl.

He died in August 2019 while in jail facing charges in a sex trafficking case.

In recent days former business secretary Lord Peter Mandelson was exposed as having forwarded government information to Epstein amid the 2008 financial crisis.

Mr Mountbatten-Windsor has not publicly commented on the latest release of information.

He was stripped of his titles by the King over his dealings with Epstein.
