Clockwork Removals and Storage, based in Brightside, have helped nearly 500 Sheffield families and businesses move properties since the housing market reopened on May 13 – and is even hiring staff due to the boom in business.

The Sheffield team’s current focus is to get as many families in their new homes for Christmas. Like busy elves, the crews are working hard throughout Sheffield and Yorkshire packing, wrapping and boxing items ready for move day.

Paul Handley, Clockwork’s Sheffield branch manager, said: “It’s been a tough year but we are now busier than ever helping families and businesses throughout Sheffield and Yorkshire and we look forward to getting as many customers in their new homes before Christmas.”

When the housing market closed back in March Clockwork had to ground their fleet and close their warehouse. But since the market reopened it has been a boom time for house sales.

Now the company is looking for more drivers in the city to cope with demand and has had to recruit more crew members.

Moving home during the Covid-19 pandemic comes with extra requirements for residents so Clockwork have also put together a list of tips for a ‘quick and safe’ pre-Christmas move.

The list includes tips such as:

Familiarising yourself with your chosen removal company’s safety procedures before the move.

Ensuring you have a cancellation waiver in place – If you contract Coronavirus or have to self-isolate then your move cannot go ahead.

Put cancellation protection in place to guard against any losses as a result of the pandemic.

Finally, make sure festive decoration boxes are marked and gifts well hidden.
