A Sheffield pub closed ‘until further notice’ has left a hilarious message to deter any would-be criminals thinking of targeting it.

The Three Cranes Hotel on Queen Street in the city centre, which recently sold for more than £300,000, has been shut since the first lockdown in March.

A sign in the window of the historic nineteenth-century pub read: “Closed until further notice. All stock, all valuables removed.

"Also, crazy blonde with unlicensed shotgun and a hungry dog on the premises.”

A reopening date for the pub is not yet known. Pubs, bars and restaurants must remain closed if Sheffield remains in Tier 3 after the second lockdown ends on 2 December.

The Three Cranes is believed to date back to 1820. It was put on the market earlier this year after its elderly owner decided not to reopen after coronavirus restrictions were initially eased in July.

It was known for its range of real ale, karaoke and its traditional pub atmosphere.
