Residents in Lodge Moor were worried their post office was closing after seeing the message and contacted Coun Andrew Sangar.

The Sheffield Council member for Fulwood ward said: “The post office closed for the last two weeks in March, because the postmistress was ill, but all of a sudden we saw a notice on the website about consultation on its closure.

“When it reopened for business, for some reason the website still said it was closed as they were consulting on its future.

“People weren't sure what was going on but we do need some reassurance this will stay open.

“It's a really important post office because Lodge Moor can get cut off in bad weather, it has a lot of elderly residents and the next nearest one is in Spar at Crosspool.

“They closed the post offices in Fulwood and Nether Green, so we are really keen for Lodge Moor to be kept open.”

A spokesman said: "Lodge Moor post office was temporarily closed from March 30 due to staffing issues caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“However, the branch reopened on April 14.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure as we know how important post offices are to communities and post offices are designated as an essential retailer by the Government.”
