Sheffield Metro Bank joins forces with Investors in Community to support good causes

Metro Bank in Sheffield is the first UK bank to join the Investors in Community charity platform linking firms with local good causes.

Metro Bank opened in Fargate, Sheffield in June. Local director Michelle Slater said: “Investors in Community is a natural partner for us and we see the platform as a way to connect with the amazing charities and community groups in and around Sheffield.“To coincide with the store opening in June the team completed the Tour de South Yorkshire together by cycling, running and walking 114 miles, raising more than £1,800 for Brain Tumour Research and Support in Yorkshire.“Investors in Community is a natural partner for us and we see the platform as a way to connect with the amazing charities and community groups in and around Sheffield.

"Supporting our community and local people is at the heart of what we do and the partnership will allow us to make these connections even stronger.”The team at Metro Bank Sheffield will be using the Investors in Community platform to find charities and organisations to support while also finding suitable volunteering opportunities for its colleagues.

Jess backs Restart a Heart DayThe bank gives all colleagues a Day to AMAZE – a day in which they can volunteer for a local cause instead of working. In response to the current situation, and with local communities needing more support than ever before, this has been increased to five days in 2020.Philip Webb, managing director of Investors in Community, said: “We love the ethos and values of Metro Bank and its focus on local community connections.“The reality is that there are thousands of charities and community groups across the country doing amazing work in places like Sheffield.
