Lifting Gear Products has moved after nearly 70 years on Petre Street into a much larger building owned by parent company Europa Engineering on Coleford Road, Darnall.

Boss Ella Cheetham said they needed a fabrication facility after the success of its design, manufacture and installation service.

Ella, who recently won an award for outstanding achievement from the Lifting Equipment Engineers’ Association, said they were looking forward to a fresh start in the new year.

She added: “We are ready for 2020 feeling capable of achieving greater things.

“Lifting Gear Products’ business model has changed to support our customers’ operations by providing a concept, design, manufacture and installation of lifting and mechanical handling equipment service.

“We were outgrowing our old facility and required a fabrication shop. I made the decision to integrate into Europa’s fabrication facility, with LGP offices on the first floor.

“This area of design and fabrication has become a growing revenue stream for us. With the stormy waters of Brexit always looming, it positions us to be as ‘Brexitproof’ as possible.”

Ella took over as boss of Lifting Gear Products in May last year aged 19. LGP is part of the Europa Engineering group of five firms owned by Ella’s dad Paul Cheetham.
