Sheffield will feature strongly at the global property and real estate conference and exhibition, MIPIM, thanks to private sector backing.
A consortium of leading property developers, agents, architects and other development and construction professionals have joined forces to ensure the city is represented at the event in Cannes, despite the constraint on public funds.
City economic development agency, Creativesheffield, will lead the delegation which comprises architects Bond Bryan and HLM, property companies British Land, Harworth Estates, Sheffield Business Park, Strategic Sites and 4Urban, property consultants Lane Walker, law firm Nabarro and construction consultants Rider Levett Bucknall.
David Fletcher, director of business investment for Creativesheffield, said: “MIPIM is a unique opportunity to further develop Sheffield’s profile in the property sector.
“We need to ensure that property developers and investors are aware of the opportunities associated with the city’s continuing economic renaissance. We see it as a very positive sign that our private sector partners have stepped forward to ensure that Sheffield maintains its presence at MIPIM in 2011.”
Events planned under the Sheffield banner include an exclusive dinner for key clients and property developers, at which Simon Carr, managing director of Sheffield-based Henry Boot Construction and a member of the Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership board, will talk about the city region’s vision from a development and regeneration perspective.
