Sheffield IT firm Pays it Forward to help charities work online

As a result of lockdown and social distancing, charities have taken a more IT-focused approach to keep in touch with service users to deliver vital services.

The team at Affinity IT Services Ltd has been working alongside businesses to collect PCs that are no longer being used and get them ready for donation to charities.

After meeting Voluntary Action Rotherham project worker Michelle Scholey at an online networking event, the firm placed a pledge on the Rotherham Pay it Forward register. Seven charities have expressed an interest, saving each group £1,000.

Rich Davies of Affinity said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be able help registered charities in the Sheffield City Region with donations of PCs but at the end of the day thanks must go to our clients and friends who have donated the machines initially so we can get them ready to be handed out to these very deserving charities to carry out their fantastic work in the local community.”

Jamie Noble of Rotherham United Community Sports Trust said: “With the help of the Rotherham Pay it Forward Register, Rotherham United Community Sports Trust gratefully received a donation of two PCs for our job club.”
