Sheffield hotels: First look inside £20m Marriott at Catcliffe as it prepares to open after delays

A £20m Rotherham hotel is finished and ready to welcome its first guests after a two-year delay.

The Marriott Hotel in Catcliffe opens on Tuesday, December 16 and new photos show how it will look inside.

Construction of the 150-room hotel started in 2022 and it was due to open in summer 2023.

But work halted in summer 2023. Builders returned in January 2025.

Here are 26 photos tracing its tumultuous journey from drawing board, to abandonment, to final completion.
