Hyperoptic has been live in Sheffield since 2015. Its services are already live across 3,500 private homes across the city. Deployment will start across the social housing stock in the coming months.

Full fibre is the gold standard of broadband. Currently just 12% of homes in Britain have access to full fibre. With full fibre broadband, users have a consistent and fast broadband experience, no matter how many people in the home are connected or what time of day it is.

John McCabe, Head of Business Development – National, Hyperoptic: “Councils have got a very important role to play in expediting the rollout of full fibre across Britain. We are working with 50 forward-thinking councils across the UK and we are thrilled to add Sheffield Council to this list. Enabling residents to have the best Internet experience goes a long way to bridging the digital divide.”

Councillor Paul Wood, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods and Community Safety, Sheffield City Council: “As we increasingly become a digital-first council, we recognise that it’s important for our constituents to have access to the best digital infrastructure available. Hyperoptic is renowned for working with councils and we have been impressed with its approach and delivery plan. This will make a real difference to the lives of our social housing tenants and leaseholders and we are pleased to be able to achieve it without any cost to the taxpayer.”
