Sheffield City Trust donates 7,000 pieces of PPE and nine defibrillators to protect NHS staff in fight against coronavirus

Around 7,000 pieces of personal protective equipment and nine defibrillators have been donated to the NHS by Sheffield City Trust to help staff battle coronavirus.

Gloves and aprons were among the items donated to help hospital staff stay safe and protect themselves during the current coronavirus crisis.

It comes after reports that some hospitals are running low on urgent supplies needed to battle the virus.

Sheffield City Trust – who manage the FlyDSA Arena, Sheffield City Hall and the English Institute of Sport Sheffield – had to close all 13 of their fitness and leisure due to the Covid-19 outbreak, meaning their life-saving resources were going unused.

The Trust hope their spare personal protective equipment and defibrilators will help health workers care for the increasing number of people being admitted to hospital with the virus.

Sheffield City Trust chief executive, Andrew Snelling said: “The health and well-being of Sheffielders remains at the heart of everything that we do.

“And, in the face of the current challenge, we’re having to find new ways in which we can make a difference.

“We’re really pleased to be continuing our support for Sheffield and the NHS by donating PPE and defibrillators during this time of national crisis.

“Despite the circumstances we’re faced with we’re continuing to search for areas we can support Sheffield City Council, the NHS and the people of Sheffield.”
