A Sheffield bank branch is to close, leaving customers with three miles to travel to the next nearest branch.

TSB wrote to customers this week to confirm its Charles Street branch in the city centre will shut in June.

The letter said people should instead use the branch in Abbey Lane, Woodseats, which is about three miles away.

The letter said the bank had 'looked carefully' at how the branch was used before taking the decision to close it.

It added: "I hope this does not inconvenience you personally, and of course you'll still be able to use any of our other branches."

Further information on the TSB website said the number of customers using the Charles Street branch had dropped by 16 per cent compared to last year, with a 46 per cent increase in online and mobile banking.

TSB said there would be no job losses.
