A Sheffield air conditioning company has bought three new premises and is hiring engineers after borrowing £1.6m.

Airflow Cooling has bought the derelict former Durham Ox pub on Cricket Inn Road aiming to turn it into office and warehouse space.

It has also snapped up two adjacent units in Stockport which it plans to move its north western arm, Cheshire Refrigeration, into from rented premises nearby.

Airflow, which is based on Rutland Road in Sheffield, employs 50. Turnover soared last year to £6.5m from £4.9m the year before.

It is run by managing director Dan Piercey with Mark Denton, managing director of the Cheshire division.

He said: “The business has grown rapidly since I founded it nine years ago. In order to continue this expansion, we needed to purchase additional space that would allow us to recruit and offer our customers the expert service we pride ourselves on.

“We feel very fortunate that throughout the current pandemic we have been able to support the NHS and our other customers, as well as continuing to expand the business and actively recruit. We look forward to establishing ourselves in our new premises in the coming months.”

William Islip, NatWest relationship director, said: “Airflow Cooling Ltd has achieved sustained growth over the past three years and the purchase of three additional sites reflects its ambitious growth objectives. These buildings mark a significant milestone in the firm’s expansion, and we will continue to support Dan and the team.”
