Youngsters across South Yorkshire are being urged to B healthy by a leading Sheffield basketball player.
Sheffield Sharks forward Patrick Horstmann has joined healthcare company B Braun Medical as a business intern, tasked with developing the Chapeltown firm’s latest community project.
And 6ft 7in Patrick, from Germany, is already proving he is up to the task by devising a three-year B Healthy – B Braun project.
The scheme aims to provide opportunities for children to get involved with professional sport and dance coaching, nutrition and exercise workshops and business mentorships.
The 25-year-old said: “As soon as B Braun challenged me to develop a new community project for them, I couldn’t wait to get started.
“Nurturing the next generation and providing young people with the education and opportunities they need to flourish – be it in sport or the business world – is something close to my heart and will play a key part in the programme.
“Both myself and B Braun Medical are excited about launching the project and hopefully making a difference to the lives of young people.”
Hans Hux, B Braun Medical group chief executive, said: “Patrick’s commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of young people in our region and providing opportunities for schoolchildren to flourish has impressed us enormously.”
