Regulations hit builders

The number of small builders concerned about the speed of regulatory change and drive for sustainability doubled during the final quarter of 2010, according to research by National House-Building Council.

Three out of five small builders feel that regulatory change surrounding new homes and sustainability are being made too quickly - almost double the figure for the previous quarter.

What's more, two out of five say they have no idea when the market will have recovered sufficiently to have an effect on their businesses.
