Regeneration team demise

A VENTURE that has brought millions of pounds of investment to north east Derbyshire is to be wound down.

Chesterfield Area Regeneration Team was set up in 1991 to bring organisations together including councils, police, Chesterfield College and Chamber of Commerce.

Over the years, the team has generated about £120 million of investment and handed out over £13 million of grants to businesses, community and voluntary groups.

CHART’s most recent success was working with North East Derbyshire and Bolsover Councils to set up the BNED Leader scheme which is providing £2.1 million of grants to boost local businesses. Chair of CHART Mike Taylor said the team was being superseded by other links such as the Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership.
