PASSENGER facilities at Rotherham Central railway station have finally opened to the public as part of an £8.5 million redevelopment.

The new building was due to open last year but was heavily delayed.

Improvements include a new ticketing office, waiting room and entrance, new lifts and stairs to platforms are also open, providing better access.

David Young, South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive’s director of customer experience, said: “We apologise that the works have taken longer than expected.”
